(I was trying to produce Promethium science pack, and Biter Eggs was really annoying. My approach is very straightforward, and I would appreciate it if anyone has better methods.)
To automate the collection and destruction of Biter Eggs, I made this blue print. Specifically, I used a very rudimentary state machine to implement it. Real-time monitoring of available Biter Eggs and the countdown to the next destruction cycle are included.
You can set the value of K and L. Every K seconds the inserter will collect all the eggs generated into the red chests, every L seconds the system will destroy all the eggs in the red chests and collected some new immediately.
The lower half of the blueprint is stackable, but when copying, it's best to select two columns at a time, and each time you paste, let the previous column overlap with the existing part to ensure the circuit can connect correctly.
ps. The inserter can prioritize picking up Biter Eggs based on their degree of spoilage, so my initial idea was to pick the most spoiled part of the eggs at a fixed percentage, leaving a number of eggs behind(I thought they would be the freshest). Unfortunately, the robots cannot be set with a similar priority. If a fixed number of eggs are left each time, there is a chance that the remaining eggs will be the ones with a higher degree of spoilage left behind by robots. Therefore, in the end, I decided to destroy all the eggs every time.
