Mur's 2x2 Tileable Nuclear reactor
Description:
This is a tileable, 2x2 reactor design to expand your energy needs as you go for infinite scalability. This design stores steam tanks like an accumulator to preserve fuel cells.
How it works:
- Place a starter blueprint down, it will request fuel cells to put into the reactor.
- The decider combinator checks how much steam is in the starter and if there is a fuel cell in the reactor and its current heat. If there is < 750 heat, no fuel inside the reactor and less than 10k steam ( which is really 530k steam 10k* # of tanks) it grabs one fuel cell.
- To expand the reactor you can place 4 no-roboport versions for every 1 roboport version or starter. After each 10 segments you may want to add more offshore pumps that is putting water into the system.
How the design works:
- When designing nuclear reactors, after a 2x2 design each 2 reactors add on 32 heat exchanger and 55 turbine as a requirement. This allows for new segments to be placed in line to increase the efficiency of the reactor and build as you go instead of needing to make a whole new reactor.
- Each segment uses 54 steam tanks, each tank can hold 2.425 GJ worth of steam which means one tank is equal to 485 Accumulators, so this stores 130.95GJ worth of power per segment.
Note:
This is a redesign of Jun J's "Nuclear Reactor, Space Age, Infinitely tileable, No steam buffer, Roboport coverage" reactor. I found that it was using twice as many heat pipes (220 vs 110 in mine) as it should be and the design could be improved on. Their version also did not store steam. https://factorioprints.com/view/-OVOu01MjkXKY8LJXCb_
