Hard Maths
- When you finally have 40 Uranium 235 for the Kovarex process, you've got about 5680 Uranium 238.
- For every 10 fuel cells you want to make for nuclear reactors, you lose 19 Uranium 238 making the cell, 3 Uranium 238 in the Kovarex process to make the Uranium 235
- then you get 6 back when you process the used up fuel cells.
- So that's 16 (19+3-6) Uranium 238 lost for every 10 fuel cells.
- 3550 fuel cells later (1 nuclear reactor powered for 197 hours) , and you've run out of Uranium 238.
Questions
- Instead of ending up with thousands of Uranium 238 again, would you like to limit it to 'just enough'?
- Would you like to make the fuel cells more quickly?
If you answered 'Yes' to both those questions, then you need this build.
Features:
- Produces 5 Uranium 235 per minute
- Produces at least 1.9 fuel cells per minute, enough to continually power 6.3 nuclear reactors
- No excess uranium 238 produced
- Is self contained. Uranium Ore processing, Kovarex processing, fuel cell making and fuel cell reprocessing all in a very small footprint
- Only needs 1 logistics bot to deliver the iron plate and Uranium 235 to the fuel cell maker
Instructions for use
- You need 40 Uranium 235 to start this up. When you've placed the blueprint, put 40 Uranium 235 into the Kovarex centrifuge
- Ensure that there is iron plate and a least 1 logistics bot in the network covered by this blueprint
- Feed the Ore Processing centrifuge with a supply of uranium ore. Half a yellow belt is enough
Notes
- The blueprint includes Creative Mode mod entities to allow you (and me) to test this. These entities are not required in vanilla factorio.
- The screenshot has concrete to help with visibility. Concrete is not part of the blueprint.
- You can tile this horizontally as you need more nuclear fuel cells.
