This is not your minimalist design; it's huge, and it's not (yet) a speed demon. But it does resemble the iconic Enterprise D. Because every blueprint I've come across relies on turrets, and I wanted a ship with phasers.
It's relies on quality blue solar panels and capacitors. I started with Eu Va's Gleba 1, and you can still see elements of that in the nacelles and prow.
Notes:
- It has plenty of power production, but needs more engines; between Nauvis and Vulcanus it tops out at 1.43 km/s.
- It has plenty of cargo capacity.
- It has enough defense for the trip between Nauvis and Vulcanus, but I haven't yet done the Kessel Run (yeah, yeah, I know) to see how it handles orbit around the other planets.
- I'll likely add more grabbers, especially on the prow.
- It's currently configured to stash iron ore for dropping to Vulcanus, but that's a tiny modification that can be removed without affecting the overall operation.
I toyed with putting the hub either in the forward disc where the real Enterprise's bridge would be, or in the tail where the shuttle bay would be; both made sense, so I split it down the middle.
