About
These blueprints were designed with easy upgradability in mind (with one exception, see flaws). Each blueprint book contains a "layer" of the wall. Ranging from a basic dotted turret line all the way to full lines of turrets, laser turrets, flamethrowers, and roboports. I've made a separate book containing add-ons that can be used at any time and don't conflict with the other blueprints. I only envision these blueprints being viable relatively early into your rocket launching.
The Blueprint Books:
- Two books that compose the base layer of the wall. Apart from how power is delivered, they are essentially the same blueprints. One uses wooden power poles and the other using medium power poles.
- Two books containing the addition of laser turrets. One uses medium power poles and can only support a single line of laser turrets. The other uses substations and can support two lines of laser turrets.
- One book containing the completed wall pieces (with the exception of the refueling add-on for the corner pieces) as well as a straight piece with gates.
- One book containing separate add-ons that can be used at any time.
Add-ons Book:
- Blueprints for adding basic dragon's teeth to the straight and corner pieces (any of the blueprints with laser turrets will already have dragon's teeth included).
- Blueprints for adding flamethrower turrets, each tile contains four. The corner piece has specifically routed pipes so that it won't conflict with a roboport and also provides a nice spot for...
- Blueprints for bot-based flamethrower fuel unbarrelling. There's one for light fuel and one for crude oil and they are set to request 100 barrels and use active provider chests to ensure they get reused.
- Blueprints for adding roboports to the straight and corner pieces.
Note: Some of the add-ons are already included in the later stage blueprints. So the add-ons are primarily meant for adding later stage components to early stage portions of the wall.
Flaws:
The major flaw with these blueprints is having to deal with upgrading from wooden poles to medium poles. Depending on how quickly a defensive wall is needed, you could easily just skip the blueprints that use wooden poles and use the ones with medium poles. And by the time you've got substations you likely have robots too so that can easily be dealt with using the robots (you don't even need to remove the medium poles when upgrading to the substations as they won't interfere with each other, so it will just be an aesthetic choice to remove the medium poles).
Like I mentioned in the about section, the completed wall might not hold up well in the late game when you're well passed the first rocket launched and evolution is very high. Same with being used in a deathworld base, I haven't done a deathworld base before so I don't know how well it will hold up.
