These train stops are designed to behave like an RS latch. When materials fall below the minimum threshold, it will begin requesting items. It will continue requesting items until storage has surpassed the maximum threshold.
These are blueprints are currently set up in "demo mode"
The RS Test Loading Station uses auto-fill requester chests from the Creative Mod. The Requester and Waiting stations are entirely vanilla.
Once all three blueprings are placed on a rail network and the wires are connected, just send the trains off the the loading station to see them in action. Here's some things you can do to test out the setup.
- Place multiple RS Requester Stations, and play with the requested amounts.
- Set the stone brick to 1.5k and watch as the stop unloads an entire train and automatically requests a second.
- Wait for all the traffic to stop, and empty different materials at different stations, and watch as the trains only deliver to the stops that had been emptied.
Once you've seen it in action, it's best to snip off the excess parts and create smaller blueprints with no material requests. (Having material requests stored in the blueprint is a good way to get run over by an unexpected train.)
Setting up the "RS Requester Station"
The requester station requests materials from the rest of the network. It's also where the RS latch circuit is set up. (Between the PAX station, and the first unloading station) The active requests are constantly broadcast out across the rail network, so you can hover over any large power pole and see how many stations are requesting materials.
After placing the blueprint, follow these steps:
- Set the item request in the constant combinator next to each train stop. If you know how many Items Per Minute will be used from the facility, use that number as the quantity.
- Set the name for each train stop. If you have multiple stops requesting Coal, it's fine to name them all identically. The train stops will shut down if they don't need materials, so trains will only go to the stops that actually need a delivery.
- To change the minimum/maximum threshold, look at the combinators next to the PAX station. The one set to Each x3 will control the max, and the one with Each x1 controls the min. If you want 5 minutes worth of materials to be dropped off in the station, change the x3 to x5. If your trains take two minutes to arrive, set the x1 to x2.
If you set the minimum to 0, the station will stop requesting trains entirely. This can be used while setting up new stations so you don't have trains filling the chests full of materials while you're still trying to get things set up.
When a train parks, the station immediately closes so any other trains carrying the same material will move on to other stations. The material request is also temporarily cancelled from the rail network, to indicate that the requested train has arrived... however, if the train is unable to fulfill the desired delivery amount, the station will turn back on and the material request will be re-transmitted across the rail network.
