Description
Early-game Vulcanus Starter Base – Fully Automated, Nauvis Tech Only, Easy to Upgrade
This blueprint is designed to make the early game on Vulcanus smoother, especially for players who find the start slow or tedious. It’s a complete, self-sustaining factory you can drop early in the game and upgrade later when you're ready.
If you want a larger, more expensive Vulcanus starter, check my Vulcanus Starter MK2 blueprint.
Key Features:
- Self-bootstrapped power Solar panels power the chemical plants that produce steam, which then powers the main factory—no manual setup needed beyond input connections.
- Handles all early-game resources Automatically consumes the extra ores collected from volcanic rocks and chimney vents using buffer chests.
- Foundry production included Produces the first foundry using Nauvis tech and switches to Vulcanus tech automatically using a circuit trick. No manual switching needed.
- Uses only Nauvis tech Built entirely with red belts, assembler 3, and modules 2, so it’s placeable early without needing advanced research.
- Foundries build themselves Even though the layout includes foundries and Vulcanus tech, it can be placed right away—just add construction bots to the logistics network.
- Mini mall for ammo and essentials Includes ammo production and early logistics support to help push through worm territory.
- 125 SPM + small rocket parts production Supports steady early research and unlock progression.
- Easy to upgrade Layout is designed for seamless upgrades—belts, assemblers, and modules can be upgraded without rebuilding.
- Fulgora-ready circuit section Circuit production starts with Nauvis tech but has enough space to replace it with Fulgora circuits later.
To start:
- You don’t need foundries—this factory builds them automatically.
- Connect input materials; the factory will power up and start on its own.
- Add some logistics and construction bots to the network.
Updates
3/Aug/2026 – Version 1.2:
- Updated the blueprint for Factorio 2.1.
- Added more oil refineries and rearranged them to fit the 2.1 mechanics and increase production speed.
- Added a second coal input.
- Added a yellow storage chest for firearm magazines.
- Moved the cargo landing pad and added automatic unloading of logistics and construction bots.

1/May/2026 – Version 1.1:
- Added more power.
- Added pumpjack production.
- Added underground pipe production.
- Added filters to all inserters.
- Faster firearm magazine production.
- Small bug fixes and minor improvements.
- Changed several modules to speed modules instead of productivity modules in some places, to allow a faster early start.
- Switched some buffer chests to yellow storage chests where it makes more sense.
- Increased the stored amount for several final products.
30/Sep/2025:
- Switched from AM2 to AM3 with more productivity modules - on one hand it increase the factory's cost, but on the other hand - until coal liquefaction is researched we are very slow on production and the additional productivity modules adds an important boost
- Changed logic to keep much less heavy and light oil before using it - reduced from 30,000 to 3,000.
- Increased the production of heavy oil in the simple coal liquefaction refinery. Thanks go to Jose Maria Bastida for pointing the problem to me
