Background
-
When I build a wall at a border of the map, I like to protect it with a small logistics network so that any damage is repaired and destroyed items are replaced. But what if the supplies run out?
-
As I'm building the border wall, I might deconstruct a load of stuff that I want taking back to the base.
-
After I've built the wall I might have stuff in the area that I want to keep, but other stuff that could be taken away as trash.
-
Before I expand, I want to quickly get to the existing border wall and park my train at a PAX station.
-
When I've completed my expansion, I want the old wall tearing down and all the items taking back to the base.
This is my solution. A combined PAX, Delivery, and Trash rail terminus.
- PAX is self explanatory. A train stop for a 1-1-1 train. (All the stations are designed for 1-1-1)
- Delivery. Where I request the items I want to protect and repair my walls, including the construction bots, with the ability to add bots when all the existing bots are busy
- Trash. Where I specify what I want to keep. Stuff that I've already said I want to delivering is ignored, but the rest is put in chests to be taken away.
How it works:
Please see the screenshot for more details.
Delivery
- In the left hand combinator, set what items you want to be delivered, and the amount you want.
- Make sure you have train back at base that has the items that you want, and orders to come to this border station.
- If the items you want are already in the local network then a signal is sent to the station to close it. The train at the base will not waste its time coming to deliver nothing.
- If you don't want anything delivering at all, just turn the combinator off.
Trash
- In the right hand combinator, state the items you want to keep, and how many you want to keep
- Anything else that you have in the network (minus what you are asking to be delivered) will be requested to be delivered to the Trash Requester Chests, and the station will be 'opened' when there is trash in the steel chests.
- Have a train at base with orders to come to collect the trash. The train will only come when the station is opened.
- If you want no trash collection, just switch off the combinator.
Notes
- Do not remove the D and S variables in the constant combinators, or change their values. It will break EVERYTHING!
- This design is for trains that drive on the left hand side of double tracks
