Description
This sounds a short alert to notify you that the game will autosave in a few seconds. This means you aren't caught unawares by the autosave "freeze" while doing something precise/technical.
This uses Display Plates and Nixie Tubes mods for displaying information but it can work in vanilla games as well (just ignore the errors you get when you import the blueprint string).
Instructions:
- Set Alarm Duration Value in D (e.g. 5 seconds). This is how long the alarm will sound.
- Set Autosave Interval according to your game's setting in I (e.g. 10 minutes).
- Turn ON the Start/Stop timer then turn it off after about 3 seconds.
- Wait for the next autosave. (Stay close to this part of the factory when the time for autosave is near).
- As soon as autosave is done, turn ON the Start/Stop combinator to start the timer.
There's a reset button to reset the timer in case something goes wrong with the configuration and you want to try again. Click it on and off to reset the clock.
Notes for Space Exploration: Speakers only sound on their own surface so if you're on another planet, this will display a flashing sign as usual, but you will not hear the alarm sound. One solution is to place this blueprint on each new planet but that can be a bit tedious with having to configure each one.
Second option is to use the signal transmitter building to send the signal to other surfaces. To do that, connect the green wire going into the speaker to a signal transmitter. Make a special "Alarm" channel on the transmitter to keep the alarm signals separate from your other stuff. On other surfaces, use a signal receiver, have it listen to the Alarm channel, connect it using a green wire to a speaker and copy paste the speaker settings from the blueprint to the new speaker. Now the alarm will sound at the same time on the new surface as well. Repeat this process for any other planets.
