Red's Jumpstart Base
Summary
This jumpstart base is my take at an compact, early game, base to get you through the starting phase of Factorio Space Age. The blueprint is not meant to be completely built after you place it. It is meant to be built overtime as the need arises. For instance, the smelter lanes are designed to smelt a full yellow belt of resources, however, even building the blueprint completely will never satisfy this output. You just need to build the furances you actually need. The same with the labs. The labs support 10 red and 12 green science and has room for 40 labs. You will never need this unless you upgrade a lot of the base. Finally, this base is not meant to be a permament fixture in your world. Once you are able to build your real base, feel free to rip this one out. Its only meant to give players a solid starting platform.
Features
Smelting
- 2x Yellow belts of iron
- 1x Yellow belt of copper
- 1/2x Yellow belt of stone bricks
- 1/2x Yellow belt of steel
Mall
The mall is designed to provide basic early game items that need to be continually crafted. The boxes are limited to one stack, and it is highly encouraged to update this to your needs. I also plan on adding logistics in a future update of this blueprint to allow for better control over the production. The mall is also designed to be expanded on based on your needs. The bus does not terminate and is easily expanded. I also only put the main resources on the bus (iron, copper, green circuits, gears, stone bricks, and steel). While more tricky, it is very possible to expand this as well. Items included:
- 4x Green Circuits
- 6x Gears
- Yellow belts, underground belts, splitters
- Red belts, underground belts, splitters (designed to pull from the buffer of yellow to make upgrading to Red belts easier)
- Red, yellow, and blue inserters
- Electric mining drill
- Assembler 1 and Assembler 2
- Pipes and underground pipes
- Gun Turret
- Radar
- Yellow and Red ammo
- Steel furnace
- Lamps
- Medium and Big Power poles
Research
The research section is a new addition and designed with the 5:6 (red:green) ratio in mind. The blueprint includes room for up to 40 labs, although one would never satisfy this before hitting the other sciences, and without upgrading assemblers and inserters. The primary reason I included so many, was purely because I had room. I stress tested with Assember 1's and the highest count I got was about 22 labs running at once.
Usage
After putting the blueprint down, only build what you actually need. There is no reason to build more furnaces or labs than what you actually require and will be a waste of resources. There are obviously assembler recipes that you won't have access to right away, like the red belts, blue inserters, and Assembler 2, however, they use the buffer from the previous tier as input, so you are able to build those when you can and it will start converting what was already built. Some simple logistics can ensure that you always have enough of both.
