This blueprint is based on an idea from Stewbond on the Factorio forums (https://forums.factorio.com/viewtopic.php?p=657913#p657913).
How to Use:
-
Build science pack loop: Use belts to move mixed science packs to the labs and bring back any that aren't used, creating a loop.
-
Fill belts with copper plate: Fill chests with lots of copper plates until the belts are full of them. This should make the chests almost empty, leaving room for the copper plates to come back. (You can use any item you have on hand, not just copper plates.)
-
Send Science Packs: Start sending science packs to the input belts.
-
Handling Agricultural Science Packs: When you get the agricultural science pack, place a heating tower next to the fast inserters to deal with spoilage. The blueprint also has a spoilage input line for the lab area.
Additional Tips:
- Connecting to a Cargo Landing Pad: I often connect this blueprint to a cargo landing pad, which needs to be set up in a 2x2 grid. Keep this in mind for a neat setup when placing the blueprint.
- Speed: Red belts can handle 150 science packs per minute (each). Turbo belts with stack inserters can handle 1200 science packs per minute (each).
