Even in a multi-level intersections, trains sometimes compete for the same tracks. For instance a train heading from east to north might have a conflict point with a train heading south to west if the west bound train only diverges after the north bound train already merged onto the south-north track.
This intersection minimizes the conflict points by first diverging to the possible directions before other inbound directions are merged in. This intersection does not need chain signal and trains only need to wait for each other if they share the same outbound direction. Thus, trains from 4 different directions can go left simultaneously.
