Description
This book requires the recursive blueprints mod to work. It contains the blueprints needed to create an automated radar deployment system that will deploy radars in a northward direction in the grid with maximum spacing between radars that allows for full coverage.
The first two blueprints in the book are needed by the deployment system itself. The third blueprint is a 'seed' that creates the initial factory.
To use it, construct the seed on top of an existing radar, then construct the seed again right next to the original seed. Put a bunch of construct robots and a few logistics robots in the roboport for the original seed, then make sure the two seeds are part of their own partitioned logistics network and that you have no personal roboports active. Then deconstruct the second seed. (This will ensure the seed has enough materials to work). Drop a few radars and 8 times as many big power poles in the storage chest. Then put the blueprint book in the storage chest and stand back. It isn't incredibly speedy, but it does work.
Unfortunately, it does not do a good job of dealing with cliffs, water or biters. It can also choke on coal from rocks. But it will leave behind little wooden chests filled with wood as it goes. And it will turn all the stone into landfill. Lastly, it starts by deconstructing the 'previous' logic section to the south. So, be careful where you deploy it or be prepared to cancel the deconstruction.
All the 'program' steps are stored in the constant combinators on the leftt hand side. The 'L' (aka Line) signal is compared to the 'S' (aka step) signal and only the line for the current step makes it out. The circuit network involved here could probably be a lot simpler. I'm a programmer, and the better skillset for dealing with combinators is an EE specializing in digital logic.
