TL;DR Insanely effective efficient reliable tileable modular upgradable radar friendly chunk-aligned defense layout book. You'll need to see to believe it can be virtually impenetrable with a incredibly small investment of resources.

Friday Fun Facts #283: Biters getting stuck on belts; limits its usefulness to 0.16 https://www.factorio.com/blog/post/fff-283
Even the devs. report "Tends to be little bit too strong".
Enjoy in 0.16 and before. "Exploit" fixed in 0.17 apparently
Each solar powered tile can sustain laser fire for ~90-180 seconds depending on the time of day. Connecting more sections can boost this figure substantially. Gun turrets are placed for backup and will not consume ammunition unless the targets somehow make it past the prior laser/Biter-go-Round zone. Testing shows that the fully upgraded level 2-5 variants can wipe out ~100 Behemoth Spitters and Biters with little to no damage to the base. Only way to truly find out if this book is what you are looking for is to try it. Please post any opinions that may arise while doing so.

Naming conventions
First letter, Interconnecting sections:
O = Artillery Outpost ( <---- Like in the Image that looks like a science pack icon ;-p )
S = Straight
C = Corner
V = "Inverse Corner"
I = Dual sided
T = Dual sided with train tracks
Second letters, Turrets used:
G = Guns x2
L = Lasers x2 pew pew pew!
GL = Both x2
Third: Version numbering indicates the "level" of defense desired and is optionally placed in phases allowing placement over previous "levels" to upgrade them to the new technology as it becomes available.
1 = Yellow Transport Belts in "Biter-go-round" configuration with gun turrets fed with inserters powered by medium poles, walls.
2 = This is where the real magic happens; Adds Laser turrets and a second layer of red Fast Transport Belts in "Biter-go-round" configuration.
3 = Adds Roboports and Substations to allow for optional bot deployment and or repairs. It also sets the framework for the final level.
