** The Problem**
Coal Liquefaction refineries consume 25 heavy oil, and produce 35 every processing cycle. If you consume the heavy that is output too quickly, (by cracking it, turning it into lube, solid fuel or flamethrower ammo) then the refineries can completely stop because they don't have enough heavy oil as input any more.
There are many ways to manage this problem, and this is one of them. This build cracks all the excess heavy into light, and all the excess light into gas, so that gas is the only product that is output. 10.5K gas per minute is produced.
By using only 3 heavy to light crackers, then there is always enough heavy to keep the refineries running. Heavy neither runs out nor backs up, and therefore the build is perfectly balanced.
Instructions for Use
- Place the Blueprint
- Connect the build to water, coal and power at the top left. 3.1K of coal per minute is required. 1.5 blue belts is sufficient.
- Insert at least one barrel of heavy oil into the assembler at the top left
- Watch how the refineries start working one by one
- The refineries are now running in a closed loop, with the only output being gas on the right hand side, about two thirds down on the screenshot
Notes
- After bootstrapping the build with at least 1 barrel of heavy oil, it is safe to remove the assembler
- The concrete in the screenshot is not part of the blueprint
- The blueprint includes Creative Mode entities only to supply the coal, water and power and to consume the gas. Without these entities, you can use the build in vanilla.
