Description
So a recent addition are the hidden linked-chests. They can be acquired via
/c game.player.insert{name="linked-chest", count=10}
or some mods that either enable them or add chests with all items. (Creative mod or similar)
Linked chest with the same link-number are connected throughout the world which can be used for very fast transportation supply or other weird ideas. The link number is basically a binary number between 0 and 4294967295 (so there can be many chests systems linked up. However, you tick 4 "circles" to add up the number in binary which is a pain in the butt and hard to remember.
Soooo I made blueprints which can be pasted over a linked-chest already placed with all the items in the game based on the following system:
- First circle = 1-4 are the tabs (logistic production etc.)
- Second Circle = row of the item
- Third Circle = position of the item in that row
- Fourth Circle = Jack shit. There are so many possible combinations we can't ever possibly use them all.
The Blueprints are all named so it's easy to find them. There is a collection blueprint of all of them in one place, so you can see and easily adapt the system and there is a version with the "Creative mod" that adds an infinite matter source to each chest.
This way linking up chests is easier than ever. All chests come with a "constant combinator" that shows the item. It is not needed - just for visuals.
When you place a linked chest it will be at link number 0 with means no boxes are checked and my system does not use that link-number so it should always be empty. You just shift+click and paste the blueprint over your linked-chest -> the checkboxes will be set -> a number for the link is thereby chosen and you are all set.
Next time you need items from that chest just plant down another linked-chest and do the same thing and those chests are now connected.
Enjoy.
